Malaysian singer Lyia Meta has made history as the first Malaysian vocalist featured on a Grammy-nominated album. Meta’s vocals are highlighted in Delta Shine, a track on Latin-American musician Antonio Vergara’s album The Fury, which earned a nomination in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category.

Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Meta expressed her gratitude for being part of the Grammy-nominated project. “Nominated for a Grammy! It’s an honour to be part of this remarkable album and to have my voice featured on Delta Shine (Track 2),” she posted, celebrating the achievement alongside an international lineup of artists who contributed to the album.

The Grammy nominations for 2025 were announced on November 8, with the awards ceremony set for February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Meta’s accomplishment marks a new milestone for Malaysian talent on the global music stage, building on her past successes, which include winning Female Vocalist of the Year and Performance of the Year at the Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards in 2022.

While Meta is the first Malaysian singer to be part of a Grammy-nominated project, other Malaysians have also left their mark on the Grammy stage. Composer Zuraini Khalid Zonneveld co-wrote the Grammy-winning track One Friend for Keb’ Mo’s Keep It Simple, and audio engineer Phil Tan has secured three Grammy wins over his career.
